Couch-sitting comments

I am currently babysitting some very awesome kiddos who are compliantly napping during a beautiful and calm time of this Saturday. Valentine's crafts have been made, puzzles have been pieced together and the entire driveway is covered in chalk. These are ideal days for me as I now recline on the couch to read. I am just starting "A Mind for God" by James Emery White today, but I had a song stuck in my head that I needed to take captive before reading. Looking it up reminded me to make a new playlist (and now blog). So I've only read the intro.
It's crazy how music can move us to action, reflection, remembrance.. Take us right back to a day at the beach, a night in a tent, countless hours of laughter on a road trip, the memory of a dear friend or of a trying time or of a lazy weekend.
I like to burn CD's of playlists. I put probably too much energy into the song choices and orders and overarching themes, but I feel like it gives them purpose and since I listen to them for about two months straight...I had better make them count, right?
Now that Christmas is past and its January, I've desperately needed a new CD in the car or I just end up listening to Taylor Swift..not bad, but there certainly must be more!

Alas, my playlist for January has been born. These are my comforts and aspirations, my heart's cry and simultaneous recoil and all discovered (and available for download) on iTunes.
This way, if the CD itself doesn't last..at least I'll have some record of the jams the got me through the jams! (too cheesy? Oh well!)
It's a little old feeling this time around..but I am getting ready to turn 26 and that's pretty old. Ha!
This entire scattered post is actually an attribution of why I need to sit down and read that book!
Well, enjoy the music if you care to look it up. It really reminds me to surrender my fears and control and heart.

Alas, there are messes to be cleaned and a book to read.. Until next time!
