Have a little faith!

Today was a crazy day! Today myself and a few other young adults and about 30 high school students ventured up the tough mountain roads despite the ongoing manhunt in Big bear for the cop killer and the most intense rain that led to more snow than I've ever seen. All to pursue a weekend of diving into the Word, takin a closer look at Hebrews 11 and investing in our kiddos in a fun and winterty way!
Getting here was difficult. In fact, all but three of my girlies are stuck at the bottom of the mountain due to vehicle/chain troubles.
Incredibly unfavorable and totally not ideal to be separated half and half to have our younger and newer counselors be the ones stuck down there without all their gear and food and to have me up here worrying with only three girls and myself in a GIANT cabin in the middle of nowhere with a killer on the lose. Old cabins make weird noises. Old cabins that are practically empty while there is a killer on the lose and you are in charge of other people's kids and lives make even WEIRDER noises!
I'm not quite sure I'll fall asleep at all tonight but the take aways from this camp are already rich and challenging.
First of all, determine to spend the weekend studying faith and encouraging faith in the youth and apparently you are asking for attack.
At one point today I prayed silently laughing in my head as I told God quite honestly that I had no faith we'd even get to camp to study faith.
Hours of traffic and adventures of peeing on the side of the road and watching snow fall so beautiful and treacherously at the same time was amazing.
Every inch of ground our chained tires tread was another inch to praise god and be thankful for!
When praying with the other counselors and attempting to devise a plan to connect again with our other half stranded in Redlands being taken care of so graciously by a Calvary church there we rejoiced in knowing that God is able, the He is sovereign, that He is for us, that He knows all things, that He can calm any storm, and draw any man. It was a refreshing look at faith . There have absolutely been silver linings all day long-just enough phone chargers, all our unexpected stops and vehicle problems occurred in areas where all members of our group had cell service, instant providing of a place for our girls to stay in Redlands at the Calvary church there, just enough cash on hand when needed...so many things to encourage our hearts in the goodness and faithfulness of God to his people and still, ironically, as I lay here in bed wide awake and alone in this giant cabin in the wilderness it is moment to moment fight to keep the faith to be a person who ensures instead of shrinks, to close my eyes and not imagine a killer in my closet, to rest in Jesus as my peace and not wrestle with how we could have done this better or the most efficient plan to reunite our group in the morning or worries of weather and road conditions.
It's in this very moment that I repeat to myself our theme of camp:
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen."
Pray for us my friends! I'll keep you posted! I know God wants to work in the kids and in my heart and life as well!
