Forget not all His benefits!

Psalm 103 is one of my favorite Psalms. It's words so familiar and yet not losing any of its zeal or truth. I am often brought back to psalm 103 in my daily walk with the Lord.
It resounds so deeply within me.
In a string of praises to God, David again is commanding his soul to bless the Lord in this Psalm.
I picture an elation flowing from his deep zeal in the midst of challenge as he makes his case, his call again to worship.
And in this moment, he recalls as evidence "all His benefits".
David goes on to list a few of the benefits of serving the Lord in verses 3-19. No doubt, he could have continued on.. He does in the subsequent psalms.
The reason this always strikes so deep is because this is a purposeful tactic that I have guarded my heart with.
This is a must-do for my own soul on the daily. My life has been forever changed by His graciousness! That He has rescued my soul from its hellish, deprived fate, called me His own and is ready to commune with me despite my continue struggle with sin, faithlessness and apathy.
I must command my soul to remember, to savor His goodness. I must provoke intentional thoughts on the benefits of walking with Him, of serving Him, of opening up my Bible because even as a redeemed daughter my desires so often are for many other people/places/things rather than right worship of God.
There is no secret that wandering hearts seeking fulfillment in everything but God is a complete disgust and reproach to God. Just look at His judgements on Israel in the first few chapters of Jeremiah!
Today while it is called today- rend your hearts to Him.
Forget not all His benefits!
Forget not how He satisfies you with goodness
Forget not His everlasting character as Creator and Sustainer
Forget not His faithfulness in the past
Forget not His ever-present nature ready to commune with you

"Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me,
Bless His holy Name!"
Psalm 103:1
