Two words:church ladies!
They've been cackling like hens for over an hour. I am without a doubt the youngest by 6-8 years, which doesn't seem like a very big number except what do I know of marriage and child birthing and rearing? What do I know of homeschooling and martial problems? Discipline strategies, injustices in the work place a or coming home to ever-needy people?
That's just it. I know absolutely nothing about any of that.
And the incredible thing about ministry is it doesn't require it. Wether or not they realize it, they are instructing me. They are exemplifying good qualities and also flaws. Their conversations, full of things I cannot advise, and sometimes based off of my facial expression- it must be obvious I'm shocked or in awe or just plain awkward. Haha I could only imagine! I am in a room full of teachers, women who have gone before me, sisters in the Lord and they are sharing their messy, imperfect lives with me and the grace that God gives each of us day after day to face our very different lives!
That's community. What a joy (even if its awkward) to share to struggles of life, learn from each other and REJOICE in Christ together!
