Merry Christmas, my friends!
I've taken cover in my room to think through my bumbling yuletide thoughts and treasures. Christmas is finally here and successful! I just fled from a NJ housewives marathon that my cousins and mom have gotten so into. Those shows have something catchy about them. But I'm pretty sure it's their insanity! They are all drama. and for whatever reason, that's so easy to watch ( perhaps because it makes everybody in my family seems like darling angels!)
At any rate, I was sitting on the couch cuddled up with my mom and my puppy in my newly gifted sweat suit and and the drawing aroma of the slow-cooking ribs downstairs and I had to straight up flee. This can't be the correct frame of mind in preparing for ministry. well, it isn't.
In all the things I have been blessed to learn about ministry...being a lazy, comfortable, self-absorbed brat was never one of the major pointers.
Christmas is great. the family, the presents, the nostalgia and all
but CHRIST is greater. He's better than any holiday, He's the Ultimate Reason to celebrate, He's the most amazing, wonderful, mighty Gift ever known to the world.
Christmas is great, But CHRIST is the best. He's greater than it all.
And if we lose sight of Cherishing Christ each day regardless of the festivities we're missing out on life and peace (Rom 6), we're missing out on abundant life (Jn 10:10).
If I lose sight of Christ in Christmas, If I lose sight of Christ in preparing for ministry-- I lose.
